2012 will mark the 6th annual Inglewood Open Studios. You are invited to attend our first meeting to give input for this year's tour, volunteer for committees and meet other artists and art supporters in the community.
The meeting is scheduled for Sunday, July 22, 2-4pm. Please email reneeafox@sbcglobal.net for address information.
In case you haven't heard: Inglewood Open Studios is an artist run event, co-hosted by Inglewood artists and local nonprofit Inglewood Cultural Arts (ICA). The 2 day studio tour takes place over the second weekend of November (10 & 11) and will allow visitors to personally tour the studios of established and emerging artists within the city of Inglewood. In addition to the tour, Inglewood Open Studios also features a group show, which includes work by all participating tour artists that will run from Saturday November 10 to Sunday November 25, location TBD. Inglewood Open Studios artist involvement more than doubled from 17 artists in 2009 to 37 last year and attracted hundreds of visitors. We expect it to grow in number of artists and attendees this year as it has each year in the past.
Participants must be artists (painting, drawing, photography, woodworking, metal, printmaking, ceramics, video, installation, new media, etc.) Non-art professions, small businesses, strictly "crafts" or any studio outside Inglewood city lines are not eligible as our mission is specifically to highlight the art scene in Inglewood.
Since the event is organized and run on a volunteer basis by Inglewood artists we ask that you volunteer to help in some way, even if you can only spare a few hours helping pick up food for the reception or dropping off signs and invites to artists for example. A list of available tasks will be offered as they become available. A committee will be selected to manage tasks such as press & promotion, signage, creating maps, managing our blog, distributing numbers for studios, etc. If you are interested in serving on the committee, please let us know.
The fee to participate is $50 which covers press listing costs (including an e-blast with Visual Art Source), materials for signage, printing costs, and other related expenses. Deadline to register is August 30th. Registration is final only with receipt of your fee and at least 1 image of your work. Please email inglewoodopenstudios@gmail.com with your intent to participate, make a check or money order payable to: Inglewood Cultural Arts and mail to: 2722 West 77th Street, Inglewood, CA 90305
